How many types of IEC 320 are there?
The IEC 320 standard defines various types of connectors and inlets used primarily for connecting electrical appliances to the mains power supply. The most common types fall under the IEC 60320 standard, which specifies non-locking appliance couplers for household and similar general purposes. These are often referred to by a letter and number combination, such as C13, C14, etc.
There are 13 types in total, designated as follows:
1. **C1 and C2**: For very small appliances (up to 0.2 A).
2. **C3 and C4**: For small appliances (up to 2.5 A).
3. **C5 and C6**: Often called "Mickey Mouse" or "cloverleaf" connectors (up to 2.5 A).
4. **C7 and C8**: Common for laptop power supplies (up to 2.5 A).
5. **C9 and C10**: For small appliances (up to 6 A).
6. **C11 and C12**: Less common, for small appliances (up to 10 A).
7. **C13 and C14**: Common in desktop computers and monitors (up to 10 A).
8. **C15 and C16**: Similar to C13/C14 but can handle higher temperatures (up to 10 A).
9. **C17 and C18**: For small appliances (up to 10 A).
10. **C19 and C20**: For larger appliances, like servers and data center equipment (up to 16 A).
11. **C21 and C22**: For high-temperature appliances (up to 16 A).
12. **C23 and C24**: Rarely used, high-temperature and current (up to 16 A).
These types cover a wide range of applications and devices, from small electronics to large appliances and equipment.
